From TV News Reporter to PR professional. Welcome to Hollywood, Roslyn!

Hi, I’m Roslyn Flaherty, Hollywood’s new Account Executive. I am new to the official world of public relations after spending nearly six years as a TV News Reporter in Massachusetts and Maine.

When I was little, I loved to tell stories and as I got older, I knew it was something I wanted to do as a career. After graduating from Assumption College, I got a gig as a Multimedia Journalist in Worcester. A Multimedia Journalist is a fancy way of saying “a reporter who does it all.” I shot, wrote and edited all my stories, and then delivered live reports throughout the day and night, under tight deadlines (and yes, I did my own hair and makeup too.) I then trekked up to Maine where I told countless stories of Mainers.

Reporters always say, “we meet people on the worst days and best days of their lives.” I certainly did while covering fires, crime, snowstorms, families finally adopting their children on National Adoption Day and people being reunited with missing loved ones. It was an honor to be able to tell these stories throughout New England.

For a while, I knew I needed a change. I wanted to come back home to Massachusetts and continue to tell stories, but not for the news. Public relations interested me and was a natural fit, and I knew I could continue storytelling in a different way. I used to be the one getting hundreds of PR pitches every day, and now I’m the one pitching them.

I am so grateful to be at Hollywood. Everyone here has been so welcoming, and I have already learned so much. I’m excited to help brands find and tell their stories – hopefully minus the snowstorms!
