This part of Wollaston doesn’t have a lifeguard. Hero recounts rescue.
A relaxing day at Wollaston Beach nearly turned tragic until an off-duty South Shore YMCA swim instructor, Renze Daley, sprang into action and rescued a woman from drowning.
The timing was especially significant as the South Shore YMCA prepared to launch American Red Cross-powered swim lessons this fall, expanding its commitment to equipping children and families with lifesaving water safety skills.
Our team identified this story as an ideal opportunity to educate the public about SSYMCA’s lifesaving resources through one of the region’s primary print publications.
The outreach resulted in an on-site interview at Wollaston Beach with The Patriot Ledger. The coverage was syndicated across the USA TODAY Network for an additional 11 pickups, including the Providence Journal and Cape Cod Times.
